Signs that summer can’t be too far off: Front Porch Theatricals has announced its casting for 2026 musicals Working and Come From Away.
Working (May 15 – 24), directed by Daina Michelle Griffith; music directed by Douglas Levine.
The original stage adaptation was conceived by Stephen Schwartz; the revised 2012 version includes songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda, James Taylor, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers, and Susan Birkenhead. This Tony nominated musical weaves together real stories from workers across professions. New to Front Porch are Melessie Clark and Vanessa Reseland, with returning cast members David Ieong, Malcolm McGraw, Dylan Pal and Matty Thornton. The cast also includes Cadee Valasquez, Stefan Lingenfelter, Drew Dela Llana, and Emma Brown Baker.
Come From Away (August 14-23): directed by Aaron Galligan-Stierle; music directed by Melissa Yanchak.
Presented in the weeks leading up to the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Come From Away is based on real-life stories, in the days following the September 11 attacks. With U.S. air space closed, 38 planes carrying approximately 7,000 passengers were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, where small-town denizens welcomed strangers, shared resources, and formed human bonds in a moment of global crisis. Book, music and lyrics by the Canadian duo Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The cast of Come From Away includes Lisa Ann Goldsmith, Marc Moritz, Drew Leigh Williams, Christy Rodibaugh, Natalie Hatcher, Mandie Patsy, Victor Aponte, Caroline Travers, Shawn Doremus, Brad Smoak, and Matty Thornton, along with Front Porch newcomers Richard McBride, Stefan Lingenfelter. and Mel Holley.
