DESIRE DISRUPTION AND DEVINE POWER AT CMU DRAMA
Hurricane Diana by Madeleine George is a witty, surreal comedy about disruption, desire, and reinvention. The play centers on Diana, a mysterious, charismatic stranger who arrives unannounced at a suburban New Jersey household. As she ingratiates herself with the family, Diana begins to unsettle their routines, relationships, and assumptions, acting as both provocateur and catalyst.
Her true identity? The Greek god Dionysus—returned to the modern world––suburban New Jersey, to be precise––to restore the Earth to its natural state.
Blending sharp humor with mythic undertones, the play reimagines the Roman goddess Diana as a force of nature — seductive, destabilizing, and transformative. Through her presence, the characters confront buried longings, identity tensions, and the fragile structures holding their lives together. The result is a playful yet incisive exploration of gender, power, consumerism, and the possibility of change.
🎟️ TICKETS AND DETAILS: Hurrican Diana, Directed by Kaycee Swierc, is at the Philip Chosky Theater on CMU Oakland campus from February 25 – 28, 2026. Tickets at: https://cmudrama.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?SeriesID=65
