The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces Liberty Magic

The Cultural District, its theaters and galleries have always been a magical place. It is about to become even more magical with the addition of Liberty Magic, an intimate speakeasy-style magic arts venue dedicated to the art of sleight of hand and prestidigitation.

Liberty Magic will bring new life to the former Arcade Comedy space at 811 Liberty Avenue with the newly designed seventy seat parlor magic experience. The creative team behind the project includes Scott Shiller, Vice President of Artistic Planning for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust as Producer, and magicians Dennis Watkins and Lee Terbosic serving as Artistic Advisors.

Eric Jones

Liberty Magic opens February 6 with a six-week run featuring Eric Jones in Impossible will leave audiences in wonder of Jones’ canny ability to blur the lines between reality and illusion. “We are excited to see our expertise in the Pittsburgh arts community fuse with the art of close-up magic advanced by world-class magicians like Eric Jones, Dennis Watkins, and Pittsburgh’s own Lee Terbosic,” says Shiller.

Following Jones will be a brand-new show by Terbosic, In Plain Sight, that will premiere in March.  Additional acts will be announced next year. Cultural Trust President & CEO Kevin McMahon indicates the plan is for “Liberty Magic to be a year-round venue” as the Cultural Trust continues to work its magic in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Liberty Magic seating is general admission, priced at $40 per ticket. Performances are on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 5 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. Bring your own beer, wine, cocktails, or soft drinks.
