
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has announced that the Trust Cabaret Series will resume for the 2021-2022 season. The dedicated artists from the previous season have stuck with us and are eager to return to the stage.
Erich Bergen | Mon, Oct 11, 2021 | 7 & 9:30pm | Greer Cabaret Theater
Erich Bergen makes his Pittsburgh concert debut offering a high-energy show filled with a mix of music and stories from his successful career on stage and on screen. Filled with songs from the Great American Songbook all the way through the top hits of today, Mr. Bergen and his band will have you laughing, crying, and singing along for the entire show.
Mr. Bergen’s talents can be seen on his starring role on CBS’ Madam Secretary and is also well known for his critically-acclaimed performance as Bob Gaudio in JERSEY BOYS, a role he performed on stage and reprised in Clint Eastwood’s film adaptation. Broadway audiences also know Mr. Bergen from his 2018 performance inWAITRESS on Broadway, starring opposite Katharine McPhee.
Brandon Victor Dixon | Mon, Nov 15, 2021| 7 & 9:30pm | Greer Cabaret Theater
Brandon Victor Dixon is a celebrated star on the Broadway stage and television. He most recently starred as Collins in “RENT: Live” on FOX and as Judas Iscariot in NBC’sJesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (Emmy, Grammy, Critics Choice and NAACP Image Award nominations). On Broadway, Mr. Dixon recently starred as Aaron Burr in HAMILTON, adding to his impressive list of performance credits that includes playing the roles of Eubie Blake in SHUFFLE ALONG (Tony Award nomination), Berry Gordyin MOTOWN The Musical (Grammy and Drama League Award nominations), and Harpo in THE COLOR PURPLE (Tony Award nomination). On the Broadway National Tour scene, Mr. Dixon played the role of Simba in Disney’s THE LION KING. His Off-Broadway performances include F**king A, RENT and The Scottsboro Boys(Lucille Lortel, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Laurence Olivier Award nominations). Mr. Dixon can be seen on television shows POWER, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, One Life to Live, The Good Wife, Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It, and Amazon Studios’ Modern Love. Mr. Dixon’s debut single, #WeAre, is currently available for download on iTunes, with all proceeds benefitting YoungNewYorkers.org. He was raised in Maryland, and is a graduate of Columbia University. Mr. Dixon is the co-founder of WalkRunFly Productions.
Karen Akers | Mon, Feb 14, 2022 | 7 & 9:30pm | Greer Cabaret Theater
Karen Akers is one of America’s more arresting and successful concert and cabaret stars. She is the recipient of the 2005 NY Nightlife Award for “Outstanding Female Cabaret Vocalist in a Major Engagement and the 2009 “Legends Award.” Ms. Akers has appeared in many prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and New York’s premiere nightspots such as Café Carlyle, Rainbow & Stars, and The Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel. Her concert and cabaret performances are just a part of Ms. Akers multi-faceted career, which encompasses theater, television, film and recordings. She appeared at The Martin Beck Theatre on Broadway as one of the original stars of the Tony® Award-winning musical GRAND HOTEL directed by Tommy Tune and made her debut on The Great White Way in the original production of NINE (also directed by Mr. Tune) for which she won a Theatre World Award, as well as a Tony Award nomination.
Ali Stroker | Mon, Mar 21 – Tue, Mar 22, 2022 | 7pm only | Greer Cabaret Theater
Ali Stroker won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Ado Annie in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s OKLAHOMA!. She made history as the first actor in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway in Deaf West’s acclaimed 2015 revival of Spring Awakening. Ms. Stroker’s television credits include starring in 12 episodes of the talent competition, The Glee Project, winning a guest role on Fox’s Glee, recurring appearances in the Kyra Sedgwick ABC series, Ten Days in the Valley, and guest starred on Freeform’s The Bold Type, Fox’s Lethal Weapon, CBS’ Instinct, The CW’s Charmed and Comedy Central’s Drunk History. Performing cabaret to live audiences, Ms. Stroker has appeared at the Green Room 42, as well as solo concerts on prestigious stages including The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and New York City’s Town Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall. Ms. Stroker is an honorary board member of The National Disability Theatre. Ms. Stroker’s motto, “Turning Your Limitations into Your Opportunities,” is part of her mission to improve the lives of everyone through the arts.
Chita: A Legendary Celebration | Mon, Apr 18 – Tue, Apr 19, 2022 | 7pm only| Greer Cabaret Theater
A theatrical icon and one of Broadway’s greatest triple-threat talents, Chita Rivera is one of the most nominated performers in Tony Award history having earned 10 nominations, won twice and received the 2018 Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. Her electric performance as Anita in the original Broadway premiere of West Side Story brought her stardom, which she repeated in London. Her career is highlighted by starring roles in Bye Bye Birdie, The Rink (Tony Award), Chicago, Jerry’s Girls, Kiss of the Spider Woman (Tony Award), and The Visit and the original Broadway casts of Guys and Dolls, Can-Can, Seventh Heaven, and Mr. Wonderful. Ms. Rivera was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and is a Kennedy Center Honor recipient.
