Liberty Magic adds a special Halloween Show October 30-31

Is death the end of existence? And if not, is it possible to make contact with the dead?

Todd Robbins invites you to join him as he reaches out to the dead with his new immersive seance experience, Haunted Deceptions.

Mr. Robbins will use arcane retro-paranormal ghost hunting techniques to open the souls of the living in order to invite the dead to return. The 75 minutes you will spend with him at Liberty Magic will be like no other theatrical event you have encountered before.

What you will see, you will see with your mind’s eye. What you will hear, you will hear with your inner ear. And when the dead return, you will understand who they are, why they are here…and what they want from YOU!

There is nothing passive about this experience. Everyone that attends will be involved in the creation of the spectral phenomenon that comes forth.

Each evening’s Haunted Deceptions will be different and truly unique. Many questions will be answered…but will you be able to comprehend them? And with each answer, more questions will arise.

The more we know, the more we begin to understand that which is yet to be revealed.

Come to Liberty Magic on Halloween weekend, reach into the darkness, and discover what can be found there with Todd Robbins’ Haunted Deceptions

New Hazlett Theater Community Supported Artists Season 9 opens October 28 & 29

Meanwhile is a spirited exploration of American improvised music by Bryce Rabideau – a mandolinist, composer, and student of a wide range of musical genres. Accompanied by Jason Rafalak (Upright Bass) and John Bagnato (Acoustic Guitar), Rabideau employs a suite of original songs to push the limits of the acoustic string trio and create a sound that is rich, spontaneous, and undeniably fun.  Hamilton tickets go on sale Oct. 18

Tickets for Hamilton, the Tony- and Grammy-winning musical about founding father Alexander Hamilton, will go on sale Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. Performances will be held Feb. 22 through March 13, 2022.

There is a maximum purchase limit of nine tickets per account. When tickets go on sale, prices will range from $49 to $179, with a select number of premium seats available from $299. There will be a lottery for 40 $10 seats for all performances. Details will be announced closer to the event.

“It’s tempting to get tickets any way you can,” producer Jeffrey Seller says. “There are many sites and people who are selling overpriced, and in some cases, fraudulent tickets. For the best seats, the best prices and to eliminate the risk of counterfeit tickets, all purchases for the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh engagement should be made through TrustArts.org.”

The documentary film On Broadway is showing at the Harris Theater October 22-28

For anyone who loves theater, this contemporary history of Broadway is a pure joy! As audiences prepare for the return of live theater after an unprecedented absence of 18 months, an all-star cast tells the inside story of the last time Broadway came back from the brink. On Broadway shows how this revival helped save New York City, thanks to innovative work, a new attention to inclusion, and the sometimes uneasy balance between art and commerce.

EQT Children’s Theater Festival presents Virtual Field Trips for Educators & GroupsOctober 15 – Nov 5

JazzTime! Musical for Children and Families and Sugar Skull! are currently accepting registrations at TrustArts.org/PGHkids and will be open for educators, group leaders, and homeschools to share with their students October 15 through November 5, 2021.

Sugar Skull!

Students are invited on a virtual journey with Sugar Skull, a charismatic candy skeleton, as he follows the music towards the ultimate party! He is spurred on by the tricky Chaneques, who desperately want him to be the centerpiece on their ofrenda. Along the path, Sugar Skull meets many colorful characters who teach him how Day of the Dead is much more than a party–it is a celebration of life! Sugar Skull! is a joyful adventure that delves into the rich traditions of Día de Los Muertos to deepen students’ understanding of Mexican and Latin American culture. Featuring regional dances of Mexico, colorful costumes and traditional music, Sugar Skull! teaches about Mexican culture beyond the expected! This 30 minute virtual performance is available in English or Spanish with subtitles and comes with a robust study guide.

JazzTime! Musical for Children and Families

In this 30 minute production, students will experience the styles and elements of jazz music through a special musical created and performed by local Pittsburgh talents! The show will begin with Grandma Rose as she reminisces about the good old days as a popular vocalist with a band of the finest musicians. After a clumsy fall over the boxes in her attic, Rose awakes to music being played by her old band! Now reunited, they sing the old songs that taught her all about jazz music, exploring tempo, dynamics, melody, improvisation and more. This musical performance adapted for the screen presents children with an introduction to jazz that will be sure to inspire.

Registration exclusively for educators and group leaders to share with
students and young arts enthusiasts at TrustArts.org/PGHKids
