The Front Porch Benefit Cabaret has until now been a one-night-only showcase of the company’s performers, past and present. In 2021, so different in many ways than years past. The cabaret is a weekend-long celebration, filled with the anticipation of a return in 2022 and tinged with melancholy for the loss of the theater’s artistic leader.

This year’s cabaret features cast members from past Front Porch Theatrical shows and from the 2022 10th anniversary season. It will also serve as a tribute to co-founding producer Leon S. Zionts, who died on Nov. 10, 2019, at age 61.

Front Porch is upholding Mr. Zionts’ legacy under the leadership of his producing partners, Bruce E.G. Smith and Leon’s wife, Nancy Zionts. The shows will go on as planned by Mr. Zionts for what was to be the 2020, now 2022 summer season, of “A Man of No Importance” (May 20-29, 2022) and “Grand Hotel” (Aug. 19-28, 2022).
The sixth annual benefit cabaret, which had in recent years been held in the Pittsburgh Cultural District, is back at the New Hazlett Theater, Front Porch’s theatrical home, 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, and Saturday, Nov. 27, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28. Tickets are available here.
Tickets for the fundraiser begin at $50 each; attendance is limited to allow for social distancing.
Safety protocols include proof of vaccinations with photo IDs, and patrons also will be required to wear masks while indoors.
