The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Ginna Hoben is a heartwarming one-woman play offering a hilarious and modern alternative to the old standards of the holiday season.
This one-woman holiday comedy, opening December 4th, features Catherine Baird in the role of Mary and is directed by Tracey D. Turner.
This marks the second live, in-person production Steel City Shakespeare has presented in partnership with the West View Hub since the Covid-19 shutdown and the company’s first time producing work by a living author.
After seeing her fiancé kiss another woman at the televised Thanksgiving Day Parade, Mary’s life falls apart — just in time for the holidays. Over the next year, she stumbles back into the dating world, where “romance” ranges from weird and creepy to absurd and comical. It seems nothing can help Mary’s growing cynicism until the charm and innocence of a five-year-old boy unexpectedly brings a new outlook on life and love. The Twelve Dates of Christmas premiered at The American Shakespeare Center in 2010 and has since enjoyed over seventy productions nationally and worldwide.
The Twelve Dates of Christmas contains mature content and language that may not be suitable for children under 13.
Performances are at 7:00 pm on Saturday, December 4 and Saturday, December 11 and at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 5 and Sunday, December 12. On opening night, Saturday, December 4, the company offers a Ladies Night Out BYOB. Guests over 21 years old can arrive at 6:15 and enjoy snacks, crafts, and games before the show.
