Families Are Invited to Tour the Studios, Meet Faculty, and Experience a Sample Ballet Class for Kids 

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School (PBT School) invites families of children ages 2 – 11 into the studios at 2900 Liberty Ave. on Sunday, April 24, from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. for a free open house. Families can get a glimpse into PBT School’s fun and engaging programming, meet PBT School faculty, and tour the studios. Plus, kids are invited to take a sample ballet class. Students ages 7 and up eligible to join the Student Division can also take a placement class from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m.

The schedule for the open house is as follows. Light refreshments will be provided, and tours of the PBT building will be available throughout the event.

• Children’s Division Sample Class | 11 – 11:30 a.m.: Children are invited to meet Children’s Division Coordinator Miss Kaila and try a sample ballet class. Parents are welcome to observe.
• Q&A Session | 11:30 a.m. – Noon: Children’s Division Instructors Miss Kaila and Miss Elise will answer parents’ questions about being a PBT family member.
• Performance by Current Student Division Students | Noon – 12:15 p.m.: Enjoy a brief demonstration of repertoire from current dancers in PBT School’s Student Division.
• Student Division Placement Class | 12:15 – 1:30 p.m.: Prospective dancers ages 7 – 11 must take a placement class to join the Student Division in order for PBT School faculty to assess where they would be best served for the summer and school year.

An additional placement class is offered on Wednesday, April 27, from 5:30 – 7 p.m.. It will include an opportunity for families to tour the building if desired.

Per PBT School’s current COVID-19 protocols, masks are optional for all guests. Mask wearing is supported, and complimentary masks are available at the front desk. This policy is subject to change at any time. Updates will be communicated to families in advance of the event.

PBT School is recognized as one of the nation’s finest dance education and training schools. All PBT School instructors are certified through level 5 in the American Ballet Theatre curriculum. 

Whether children have dreams of one day becoming a professional dancer or are simply looking for a fun and active summer activity, PBT School’s Children’s Division offers ample opportunities for kids ages 2 – 7 to experience the joy of ballet.
