Chamber Music Pittsburgh (CMP) announces its Fall 2022 Pittsburgh Performs series, which brings innovative local and regional musicians into unexpected neighborhood venues. The season celebrates the diversity of chamber music through community concerts featuring the Grammy-nominated Imani Winds and folk-inspired group Alla Boara.
“Pittsburgh Performs is some of the most important and relevant work we do for the greater Pittsburgh community,” says Kristen Linfante, Executive Director of Chamber Music Pittsburgh. “Chamber music originated in coffee shops and living rooms—it was meant to be shared and enjoyed in a community setting. This program renews that sense of community performance while displaying the stunning artists who live and work right here.”
Through a pay-what-you-wish model and collaboration with the featured artists, Pittsburgh Performs is a key component of CMP’s mission, complementing the MainStage Live series that draws national and international performers with a neighborhood-focused program that uplifts local and regional musicians.
“We work with our featured musicians to identify the specific neighborhood where they feel most closely connected,” says Linfante. “Pittsburgh Performs is more than intimate concerts in unusual settings: it represents a deep artistic partnership with each performer. Each season, we aim to host concerts in new venues and neighborhoods where chamber music is rarely found.”
