If you have ever thought about introducing yourself or your kids to classical music or having them see what a “big” theater such as Heinz Hall is like, here is an excellent opportunity, and tickets are free.

The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra is one of the oldest youth orchestra programs in the United States. Many PYSO alumni have won positions in major symphony orchestras, including those in orchestras of Boston, New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. Others have gone on to solo and chamber music careers, as well as teaching positions at colleges, universities, public and private schools, and private studios.
The November 13 program, under the direction of James Joyce, includes Dvorak’s euphoric Symphony No. 8 and selections from Suite No. 2 of Prokofiev’s soaring and passionate Romeo & Juliet Orchestral Suites Op. 64.
The program also features British-West African composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s lush Ballade for Orchestra Op. 33, and Jimmy López Bellido’s energetic Techno.
The concert is FREE, but a ticket is required. Visit https://pyso.org/tickets/ for your tickets and more information.
