PMT’s ‘A Lyrical Christmas Carol’ returns with Richard McBride as Scrooge

Pittsburgh Musical Theater will present the 31st annual edition of Ken Gargaro’s A Lyrical Christmas Carol, with young artists joining professional guest artists Rob Jessup as the Narrator and Richard McBride as Ebenezer Scrooge.

Among his credits, McBride has appeared in several shows for PMT, played Youngblood in August Wilson‘s Jitney for Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company and recently was seen in A Raisin in the Sun for Pittsburgh Public Theater. Jessup, co-founder of Split Stage Productions in Westmoreland County, was playing Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music for PMT on the cusp of the pandemic. 

A Lyrical Christmas Carol runs December 13-18 at PMT’s Gargaro Theater in the West End. The production was adapted for the stage by Ken and Jane Gargaro to retell the Dickens’ holiday classic.

“We are so excited to bring this treasured holiday favorite back to the Gargaro Theater in the West End for 2022. A Lyrical Christmas Carol is the perfect opportunity to create beloved holiday memories for audiences, students and young artists,” said PMT executive director Colleen Doyno. 

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. December 13-16,  2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. December 17, and 1 and 6:30 p.m. December 18. Tickets: $25 for adults and $15 for children and seniors 65+ at pittsburghmusicals.com/christmascaroltickets.
