Cross-Stitch Theater Company Returns to the Stage with Diana Son’s ‘Stop Kiss’

Their first performances since 2019 will be February 10th to 12th, at the Pittsburgh Savoyards Studio Theatre in Bellevue, PA.

Stop Kiss is “A poignant and funny play about the ways, both sudden and slow, that lives can change irrevocably,” says Variety

Stop Kiss focuses on the story of Sara and Callie, who are assaulted on the street after their first kiss by an angry bystander, in which Sara is horribly injured. The attack transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate.

Throughout Stop Kiss, relationships are explored, formed, and even ended. The story is told out of chronological order: alternating scenes occur respectively before and after the assault, which is not shown onstage.

Originally produced in 1998 and produced Off-Broadway in 1998 at New York City’s The Public Theater. The show is a poignant and timeless portrayal of self-discovery and love, as well as its depiction of the hatred and violence that Callie and Sara experience for being together.

Beyond the messages within the script, the show’s relevance 25 years after it was first performed is a message in itself.

Caitlin Dobronz directs this production with the cast featuring the local talents of Kaylyn Farneth (Callie), Erika Krenn (Sara), Alex Blair (George), Evan Wormald (Peter), Johnny Patalano (Det. Cole), Pamela Farneth (Mrs. Winsley), and Theo Sebastrian (Nurse).

Stop Kiss has performances at the Pittsburgh Savoyards Studio Theater, 523 Lincoln Ave, Bellevue, PA 15202, on February 10th & 11th at 8 pm and February 12th at 1 pm. Streaming tickets are also available. Questions and ticket inquiries can be directed to crossstitchtheatercompany@gmail
