Playhouse cites “technical difficulties”

Reports on social media indicated that a large piece of scenery hanging above the stage suddenly fell near the end of the show, only a few feet from one of the lead actors. Water poured onto the stage because the sprinkler system was triggered. The stage and orchestra pit were flooded, and portions of the set collapsed. Posts outside the Playhouse show that the fire department had been called to the scene.
Thankfully there appear to be no injuries reported at this time.
Kudos to the Stage Managers and House staff for coordinating an orderly exit.
We expect to learn more in the coming days.
