Little Lake Theatre Company presents ‘Deathtrap’ Opening July 20th

J. Cody Spellman Directs the 4th Show in Little Lakes Theatre’s 75th Anniversary Season

Deathtrap is a top-rated and successful play written in 1978 by Ira Levin, an American playwright and novelist. The show is a thrilling, dark comedy that premiered on Broadway in 1978, and this Tony-nominated Best Play has become one of the longest-running plays in the genre. Deathtrap combines elements of mystery, suspense, and humor to captivate audiences.

Comfortably ensconced in his charming Westport, Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is experiencing a dry spell in his career. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college—a thriller that Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway smash. Sidney’s plan, devised with his wife’s help, is to offer collaboration to the student for co-credit as the story unfolds as the characters engage in unexpected twists and turns.

Levine skillfully combines elements of a classic whodunit with dark humor, making it an entertaining and thrilling experience with its clever and intricate plot that keeps audiences guessing until the very end.
