The feel-good musical is based on the Blockbuster film with music & lyrics by the sensational Dolly Parton and based on the blockbuster comedy of the same name. 9 to 5 is a rollicking good time surrounding three hapless women who scheme to take revenge on their obnoxious, overbearing boss. Naturally, everything spins out of control with hysterical results!
The musical follows the story of three female office workers—Violet Newstead, Doralee Rhodes, and Judy Bernly—working under a chauvinistic boss, Franklin Hart Jr., at Consolidated Industries. Fed up with his inappropriate behavior and the challenges they face as women in the workplace, they decide to take matters into their own hands. When a series of events leads to them accidentally kidnapping Hart and running the office themselves, they implement significant changes that improve the work environment for everyone.
