Pittsburgh Savoyards Present a Double Bill of Holiday Magic: ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’ and the World Premiere of ‘The Gift of the Magi’

The Pittsburgh Savoyards are ringing in the holiday season with a double-feature presentation of two classic one-act holiday stories. Amahl and the Night Visitors, a beloved opera classic, will be paired with the world premiere of The Gift of the Magi, adapted by Robert Hockenberry with music by Paul Yeater.

Amahl and the Night Visitors, composed by Gian Carlo Menotti, tells the touching story of a young disabled boy, Amahl, and his mother encountering the Three Kings during their journey. The show beautifully captures themes of compassion, faith, and the true spirit of Christmas.

The Gift of the Magi is a brand-new musical inspired by O. Henry‘s classic short story. This world-premiere production promises to be an unforgettable addition to the holiday season. Audiences will be swept away by the timeless tale of selflessness and love as a young couple sacrifices their most treasured possessions to give each other the perfect gift.

The Pittsburgh Savoyards have assembled a talented cast and crew under the stage direction of Robert Hockenberry and the music direction of Guy Russo to bring the season to life with enchanting storytelling and captivating music. A complete cast list is available here.
