In 2022, MTAP—Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh—produced six new mini-musicals written by six teams of collaborating regional artists under the collective title of Hot Metal Shorts.
MTAP now invites regional artists to participate in the second round of collaboration on the short-form musical. On Tuesday, August 20, at 7 p.m., MTAP will host an online roundtable for interested regional artists. All artists will have a chance to talk briefly about their creative interests and the role(s) they’d like to pursue in such a collaboration.
Following the roundtable, MTAP will create teams, get artists into contact with each other, and support their efforts at getting the mini-shows started. MTAP will provide dramaturgical support as the musicals develop and a monthly forum for testing the new work. The goal is to have the new work ready for the stage at the end of MTAP’s September 2024-May 2025 season.
Artists can sign up for the August 20th online roundtable at https://forms.gle/NePGUr4ZdLYZLjxg9
