Corning Works Announces Its 15th Anniversary Season

In 2010, following her successful six-year tenure as Dance Alloy’s Theatre’s Executive Artistic Director, Beth Corning turned her creative energies to solely focusing and producing her own choreography. Corningworks was formed as a female-led platform for her multi-disciplinary productions, including her award-winning series, The Glue Factory Projects original full-evening length dance theater works created on internationally & nationally critically acclaimed performers over the age of 40.

During the past 15 seasons, Corningworks has created and presented 24 original full-evening works, engaged 90+ guest artists, and presented acclaimed artists who have rarely, if ever, performed in Pittsburgh.

The company’s four primary tenets are to:
1)Present high-quality, world-class, accessible multi-disciplinary dance theater work, 2) Create bridges among diverse cultures, races, and generations, 3) Build awareness and provide an alternative forum for social and civic dialogue, particularly engaging a feminist point of view, and 4) Provide affordable access to our performances for all.

Corning Works’ 15th Anniversary season continues these tenents with both local and national presentations:

  • Dancing on the Ceiling – solo female artists of a certain age | September 20-21, 2024 @ Krannert Arts Center & the Univ. of Champagne Urbana IL.
  • What Did You Think You Just Heard Me Say?! | Glue Factory Projects | Spring 2025 @ the National Theatre, Reykjavik Iceland
  • The Glue Factory Projects | March 26 – April 6, 2025 @ Carnegie Stage, Carnegie, PA. Created in collaboration with renowned puppeteer Tom Lee https://tomleeprojects.com
  • Unexpected Exposure Series  – Short portable dance theater works performed by a cast of “younger” local professional performers. Site-specific performances are held on sidewalks, fountains, museums, and other surprising venues with a goal is to open the dance theater experience to those who might not ordinarily attend “in-theater” productions. These performances are offered free, expanding CW’s mutual accessibility while actively countering this time of growing isolation and division.
  • Corning will host A (not so) Quiet Evening with Beth... a tell all! featuring “a dinner with a bit of dance on the side – an evening of community, food, & performance!” Ever wonder how choreography is conceived? And how does it become realized onstage? What the real costs of a production are? How do the lights, the music, the costumes, theset, and the props all come into being? And what becomes of all these bits & pieces once the production ends? Find the answers on October 19, 2024at Carnegie Stage, Carnegie.

This 15th anniversary celebrates the art I’ve had the honor of creating, and the 90+ artisans with whom I’ve worked and presented 24 productions. It also recognizes and is deeply grateful for the 15 years of community that’s been built, an accomplishment I cherish more than words can ever express.” — Beth Corning.
