The Bach Choir of Pittsburgh presents ‘The Choir in Stereo,’ an Evening of A Cappella Antiphonal Music

The Bach Choir opens its 2024-25 Season Collectables with The Choir in Stereo, a choral production of antiphonal singing, performed a capella, in which parts of the choir sing to each other and the audience simultaneously from different locations of the performance venue. Antiphonal music is of great antiquity and occurs in many cultures, including folk and liturgical music. With its beautiful nooks and crannies, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral will be an exciting and entertaining venue for this production. Performance dates are November 16, 2024, at 7:30 pm and November 17, 2024, at 4:00 pm.

Each year, the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh produces a three-program concert season in unique venues in and around Pittsburgh. Our 2024-25 Season Collectables presents music collected from a variety of genres and styles. Following The Choir in Stereo will be The Music of Adolphus Hailstork: A Celebration of Black History Month (Feb. 22 & 23, 2025) and Motown Mania (May 3 & 4, 2025).

The Bach Choir of Pittsburgh was founded in 1934. Under the leadership of Conductor and Artistic Director Thomas W. Douglas, the Choir has evolved into an inclusive choir that performs major choral works by composers from the Renaissance through the present. The Choir is critically acclaimed for its innovative, precise, and entertaining concert performances.
