Chamber Music Pittsburgh will present A Summer Serenade, a free outdoor concert at Mellon Park as part of the City of Pittsburgh’s Bach, Beethoven and Brunch series. Featuring masterworks made for the open air, A Summer Serenadebrings together notable Pittsburgh wind musicians, including several members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
The program features two of Mozart’s expressive wind serenades, which the Austrian composer wrote especially for outdoor performances. American composer Samuel Barber‘s beloved “Summer Music for Wind Quintet” rounds out the program with a nod to CMP’s 2025-2026 MainStage Live Season, Voices in Time. Opening in September, CMP’s 65th season celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States and the voices that have shaped chamber music in America.

The free concert takes place on the Mellon Park lawn, located at the intersection of Fifth and Shady Avenues in Point Breeze/Squirrel Hill. The concert begins at 10:30 am Sunday, July 20, 2025. Street parking is available around the perimeter of Mellon Park and in a metered lot behind the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. Audience members are encouraged to pack a picnic and bring a blanket or chair. Alcohol is prohibited in the park.
