Pittsburgh Savoyards’ The Woman in White – Suspense, Mystery, and Drama

The Pittsburgh Savoyards present The Woman in White, an original stage adaptation of Wilkie Collins’ iconic 19th-century mystery, adapted and directed by Robert Hockenberry, opening July 11th.

Considered one of the earliest mystery novels in the English language, The Woman in White has captivated readers for generations with its unforgettable characters, sinister secrets, and psychological suspense. Robert Hockenberry brings this haunting tale to the stage with bold storytelling and his trademark theatrical flair, offering a timely exploration of gender, power, and identity.

Set in Victorian England, The Woman in White follows two women, the strong-willed Marian Halcombe and the gentle yet determined Laura Fairlie, as they unravel a dark conspiracy that threatens their freedom and identities. At the heart of their journey is the spectral figure of a mysterious woman dressed in white, whose sudden appearance sets off a chain of events involving deception, betrayal, and buried secrets. In a society that seeks to silence them, these women must find strength in their bond and fight for truth in the face of overwhelming odds.

This production continues the Savoyards’ legacy of bringing classic literature and inventive theatrical storytelling to Pittsburgh audiences.
