It may be heating up outside, but it’s cool to be in the Cultural District,, where Pittsburgh CLO presents Disney’s Frozen as its summer 2025 subscription series finale, starting Friday, a day after Stage 62 moves Downtown and into the Greer Cabaret with The Prom.

DISNEY’S FROZEN
The animated musical that launched a gazillion Let It Go online videos, sprinkled Broadway with Disney magic from March 2018-2020. The show earned three Tony nominations, and toured from 2019 to September of last year, when it began to be produced by regional companies.
Frozen will enjoy a relatively long run of 12 shows in nine days, July 18-27, 2025, at the Benedum Center, Downtown.
Bringing the beloved characters to life for PCLO are Carnegie Mellon alum Cate Hayman as Elsa, Daisy Wright as Anna, Pittsburgh native and Penn State grad Matthew Hydzik (Broadway credits include The Cher Show, Side Show, It Shoulda Been You, West Side Story, and Grease) and Jordan Barron as Sven, Kristoff’s loyal reindeer.
Puppeteering as Olaf, the sweet snowman who sings, “Just imagine how much cooler I’ll be in summer,” is Kyle Kemph.
In this co-production with Kansas City Starlight, CLO Academy’s Hallie Camancho splits the role of Young Anna with K.C.’s Bellamy Kelly, and Laurel S. Denk, whose previous roles include the title role in Little Lake Theater’s Matilda, will share Young Elsa with Hailey Kenyon.
The co-production moves on to Kansas City next month, along with most of the same Pittsburgh-based and -adjacent artists. The cast of PCLO’s production includes Allan Snyder, Ryan Cavanaugh, Mathew Fedorek, Bella Bilandzija, Laura Guley, Liz LeClerc, Justin Mock, Maile Oravitz, Brittany Pent Rohm, Madysen Piper, Michaela Plummer, BB Stone, Kai Sachon and Jasmine G. Swaby.
Frozen is directed by Michael Heitzman and choreographed by Robbie Roby. Hetizman helmed the original 2024 regional production of Frozen, at Tuacahn Amphitheatre, and his PCLO credits include Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Seussical, both with Robbie. Pittsburgh-based Catie Brown serves as musical director.
The creative team includes scenic designer Tim Mackabee, video designer Bryce Cutler, costume designer Ryan J Moller, and season lighting designer Paul Miller.
Frozen concludes a relatively reduced PCLO season, which included the company’s production of Camelot and the national tour of Back to the Future. An early summer treat was the world-premiere production of Madame Clicquot: A Revolutionary Musical, at the Byham Theater.

THE PROM
Stage 62, a company usually seen at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall in Carnegie, will be within shouting distance of the Benedum, when The Prom, directed by Nic Nemec, comes to the Greer Cabaret Theater, July 17-27, 2025.
The musical finds four Broadway stars in need of a new career boost, so when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they decide to help shine a spotlight on the issue … and themselves. The issue: A student wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, and the town’s parents want to keep the high school dance “on the straight and narrow.”
