‘GET READY’ FOR NEW HORIZON MUSICAL DRAMEDY
New Horizon Theater is back Downtown with the “feel-good musical dramedy” Get Ready: A Musical Dramedy in Two Acts, Set to The Key of Life. The show explores the joys and pains that many African-American musicians grappled with when music shifted from 1950s doo-wop into what would become mainstream pop and rhythms and blues. Get Ready is written by Jaye T. Stewart and Joe Plummer; with music composed by Plummer, and lyrics by Plummer and Jaye and Debi Stewart. Plummer also is director and choreographer of the musical about the Doves, a group well past their heyday as they prepare for a comeback, in hopes of recapturing the bliss of days gone by.
The New Horizon production runs October 30-November 9, 2025, at the Helen Wayne Rauh Rehearsal Hall, O’Reilly Theater, Downtown. For tickets, visit https://ppt.org/production/103806/get-ready-a-musical-dramedy-in-two-acts-set-to-the-key-of-life.
