A who’s who of Pittsburgh theater directors and performers will be represented on local stages in March. Here’s a peek of what to expect from three productions in a very busy month:

APRIL BRINGS MORE LOCALS, IN QUANTUM THEATRE SEASON FINALE

Just announced, here’s the cast of “seen” actors (four characters will only be heard) for the finale of Quantum Theatre’s 35th anniversary season …

QUANTUM THEATRE’s 10 Out of 12, Ann Washburn’s front-of-stage, back-of-stage comedy, directed by Andrew William Smith, in which “patrons wear a headset, a staple of Stage Managers everywhere, so they can listen in on the folks in the booth, as well as the actors onstage.”

PATTI LUPONE CONCERT MOVES TO BYHAM THEATER

Patti LuPone: Matters of the Heart has been moved to the Byham Theater. The concert on March 6, 2026, was originally scheduled for the Benedum Center. BRICOLAGE’S UNREDACTS PLAY #1 IN ‘SAMIZDAT’ TRILOGY

Bricolage Productions has revealed Play #1 in the 3-part Samizdat: Václav Havel’s Audience, directed by Steven Michael Wilson, and featuring Jeffrey Carpenter and Robert Anthony Peters. In Audience, a blacklisted Czech playwright confronts a proposition that could entangle him in the very system he resists. The play is set to run March 26-29, 2026, at (location redacted).

Samizat is “inspired by the quiet but deliberate defiance of Czechoslovakian dissidents ahead of the Velvet Revolution, a movement that ended decades of authoritarian rule.

IT’S ABOUT TIME FOR PITTSBURGH OPERA WORLD PREMIERE ‘A TIME TO ACT,’ AND ANNUAL FASHION SHOW

High school students prepare for a production of Sophocles’ Antigone, joined by a new student with a formidable secret in A Time to Act, a world premiere production of Pittsburgh Opera at Bitz Opera Factory, February 28, March 3, 6, 7, 8. Time to Act weaves together threads pulled from Greek tragedy, newspaper headlines, everyday high school life, and contemporary opera. Through an ongoing collaboration with Boston Conservatory at Berklee, composer Laura Kaminsky and librettist Crystal Manich have interwoven crucial feedback from music students of the “lockdown generation,” as some have dubbed Gen Z, because of the active shooter drills that were so formative to their childhood. The Pittsburgh Opera annual fashion show theme is It’s About Time, billed as a fresh take on period dress, combining couture and opera in a runway presentation curated by Richard Parsakian. PITTSBURGH BALLET THEATRE’S APPRENTICE SHOWCASE

This one-performance-only event spotlights apprentices of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre — a chance to witness the company’s future stars up close, in an intimate studio setting. PBT’s Apprentice Program bridges formal training and professional ballet careers. Repertoire for the showcase is selected collaboratively by apprentices and the artistic team, with coaching from senior artists.
