Alumni Theater Company has announced a venue change for its summer production of Once on This Island. Originally scheduled to be presented at the O’Reilly Theater, the production will now take place at the University of Pittsburgh’s Charity Randall Theatre.
The venue change comes in the wake of significant staffing changes at the Pittsburgh Public Theater earlier this year. After thoughtful consideration, ATC leadership determined that presenting the production at a new venue was the best way to support the organization’s mission and the experience of its young artists.
“ATC has an 18-year history of serving young artists and emerging professionals. In every decision we make, their experience and artistic growth remain our guiding priorities,” said ATC Artistic Director
Monteze Freeland in a statement. “Traditionally, ATC has presented its summer productions off campus, providing an exciting opportunity for our artists while strengthening our connection to the broader community. This year will be no different, and we are thrilled to bring Once on This Island to Oakland this summer.”
The production will maintain its originally announced performance schedule, July 31- August 2, 2026. Opening night will feature a celebratory pre-show reception with guest artists and performances by members of ATC’s Young Artist and Teen Ensembles, celebrating the creativity and talent of the next generation of theatermakers.
