‘BOOK OF MORMON’ ACTRESS TO STAR FOR ALUMNI THEATER

Kim Exum, whose Broadway credits include in Nabulungi in The Book of Mormon and Alpha Smith in A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical, will play Erzulie, the radiant goddess of love, in Alumni Theater Company’s production of the Flaherty-Ahrens musical Once on This Island. In a welcoming statement, Alumni Theater said, “For our students, having the opportunity to share the stage with a Broadway veteran is about so much more than performing alongside an accomplished artist. They will gain firsthand insight into what it takes to build a sustainable career in the performing arts while seeing that dedication, resilience, and a commitment to their craft can turn today’s dreams into tomorrow’s reality.”

‘COME FROM AWAY’ CAST FOR FRONT PORCH

Front Porch Theatricals’ production of Come From Away has its cast. The based-on-true-stories musical recounts the kindness of Canadians to airline passengers and crew, who were stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, when U.S. air space was closed in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. Among a cast of local veterans and new faces, Drew Leigh Williams plays Captain Beverley Bass, a pioneering woman pilot of American Airlines. Lisa Ann Goldsmith, who plays Beulah, traveled to Newfoundland earlier this year and bonded with the real Beulah Cooper and Diane Davis, the women who inspired her character.

THEATRE FACTORY BIDS FAREWELL TO TRAFFORD

With the upheaval happening in Downtown Pittsburgh’s theater scene, it might be easy for city dwellers to forget there are big changes coming to theaters elsewhere in Southwest PA. When Jesus Christ Superstar ends its sold-out run on July 19, 2026, The Theatre Factory will say goodbye to its Trafford home at 245 Cavitt Ave. and move to New Kensington. The new venue, Aluminum City Arts, is housed in a former Alcoa building along Freeport Road. After 30 years in Trafford, The Theatre Factory announcement earlier this year said, “Joining Aluminum City Arts allows us to be part of something bigger: a collaborative arts community that celebrates creativity in all its forms. We’re thrilled to continue serving Westmoreland County while becoming part of this exciting new cultural hub.”

🎟️ At this point, onStage Pittsburgh’s Call Board always includes a reminder to visit the Go See A Show website for discount tickets to more than 30 participating theaters in our area. The initiative, announced in February of this year, was spearheaded by Pittsburgh Public Theater, Pittsburgh CLO, and City Theatre, supported by an Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) Connections grant, and slated to run through July 2026. However, City Theatre, the last of the trio still standing, has always operated the website and will continue to so for the foreseeable future. So, what are you waiting for?
