25 YEARS AFTER 9/11, ‘COME FROM AWAY’ EMERGES AS ‘ENDURING PIECE OF ART’
As we remember September 11, 2001, on this 25th anniversary of a day of terror in the United States, CBS Sunday Morning and The New York Times reported on another way people from all over the world are remembering that day, through the musical Come From Away: “The show — which has won over audiences with its depiction of a community that spent days feeding, sheltering and comforting traumatized strangers — was a hit on Broadway, with a pandemic-interrupted run from 2017 to 2022, and this month, because of the anniversary of the attacks, 146 productions are being staged around the world. Among them is a homecoming: in Gander, Newfoundland,* the town where the musical is set.” Front Porch Theatricals produced a stellar edition of Come From Away this summer. Next up: Starting on September 11, Mon River Arts tells the story again.
