Kinetic Theatre premieres Donald Stephen Olsen’s Oscar & Walt on November 3rd


Oscar & Walt winner of the 2019 “Best Full-Length Play” award from the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights/City of West Hollywood Pride Reading Festival, received its World Premiere later that year under the auspices of The English Theatre of Rome, Italy and makes its U.S. Premiere in 2021 at Kinetic Theatre.

Oscar & Walt celebrates the enduring legacy of two towering literary figures by dramatizing a real life encounter that took place in 1882 between the 62 year-old American poet Walt Whitman and the 28 year-old Anglo-Irish wit Oscar Wilde. Cultures clash, egos flare, words fly, and secrets emerge as two of the greatest writers of the 19th century – one nearing the end of his career, the other just beginning – come face-to-face in an unforgettable meeting of minds and hearts.

Oscar & Walt is Directed by Andrew Paul and stars Lisa Ann Goldsmith, Nick Giedris, and Sam Tsoutsouvas.

Lisa Ann Goldsmith has been seen at the Kinetic as Mrs. Staunton in The Speckled Band and The Woman in The Father. An actor and director with many New York and regional credits, she most recently played The Wicked Witch of the West/Miss Gulch in The Wizard of Oz at Heinz Field with Pittsburgh CLO. Lisa Ann is the co-host of the internationally known podcast The Bardcast: It’s Shakespeare, You Dick!, an irreverent look at all things Shakespeare with listeners in six of the seven world continents!! Nick Giedris plays the role of Oscar. He is an actor, singer, musician, and writer who starred Off-Broadway as Christian Grey in Cuff Me: The Fifty Shades of Grey Musical Parody, which he also toured with nationally.

Kinetic associate artist Sam Tsoutsouvas plays the role of Walt Whitman Tsoutsouvas has performed leading roles on Broadway and at many of America’s finest regional theatres. His Pittsburgh appearances include Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Ed Dixon’s L’Hotel and Caryl Churchill’s A Number at Pittsburgh Public Theatre and Frank Lloyd Wright in Worksong at City Theatre. On Broadway, Tsoutsouvas has performed in By Jeeves, Dracula, and Our Country’s Good. He was in the first graduation class of The Juilliard School and was a founding member of John Houseman’s The Acting Company.
