Pittsburgh Playhouse and Quantum Theatre Among NEA Grant Awardees

Pittsburgh Playhouse at Point Park University has been approved for a $30,000 NEA Grant for Arts Projects to support a portion of its “Shaping the Arts: Black Women and Femme Artists and Creators” program.

Other regional awardees of the 2022 second round of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts include Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, $15,000; Carnegie Museum of Art, $60,000; Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild (MCG Jazz), $15,000; Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures, $10,000; Pittsburgh Glass Center, $20,000; Quantum Theatre, $10,000.

“Shaping the Arts: Black Women and Femme Artists and Creators” is among 1,125 projects across America totaling more than $26.6 million that were selected during this second round of Grants for Arts Projects fiscal year 2022 funding.

The Playhouse’s grant will go toward what will be a focal point of its 2022-23 season. The programming includes Urban Bush Women’s Hair and Other Stories; Terri Lyne Carrington, and Toshi Reagon’s genre-defying Parable of the Sower.
