The Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh (COP) concludes its largest program year with a spectacular finale. The orchestra will play Richard Strauss’ landmark composition “Metamorphosen” and Mendelssohn’s lyrical “Concerto for Violin, Piano, and Strings” on June 3, 2023, at 7:30 at Levy Hall in Rodef Shalom.

Violinist Maureen Conlon Gutierrez and pianist Rodrigo Ojeda will join the orchestra as soloists for the Mendelssohn concerto.

“This concert has two special works, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to perform them,” says Artistic Director and Conductor Edward Leonard.
Metamorphosen really is one of the greatest works of the twentieth century, a poignant musical meditation that he composed as reflected on the devastation of World War Two. The Mendelssohn concerto is one of those under-performed treasures that we love to present, and Maureen and Rodrigo will give an exceptional rendition.”
