Is that evening gown just sitting forlornly in your closet? Well, here’s the event for you: Pittsburgh Opera’s 64th Annual Diamond Horseshoe Ball, scheduled to “steal” your breath away on Saturday, September 22, 2018, beginning at 7:00 pm at the Omni William Penn Hotel, 530 William Penn Pl, Pittsburgh, PA.

But hold onto your jewels people, because this year’s Ball is a Diamond Heist! Designed by Luxe Creative, Diamond Heist will create the experience of being inside a classic heist movie, like Ocean’s Eleven…and that’s about all the information there is, since the details of the evening’s activities are top secret, for attendees only. So, shine your shoes, slick back your hair, and get ready to channel George Clooney.

Cocktails will be served at 7:00 pm in the Terrace Room and dinner will be a served at 8:30 pm in the Grand Ball Room, followed by dancing and dessert at 9:30 pm. There will be both a silent auction and a live auction. Don’t worry; if your jet just can’t get you back from Monte Carlo in time for the event, you will be able to bid on all auction items remotely via smartphone this year. Auction items can be viewed on the Pittsburgh Opera website beginning September 15th at pittsburghopera.org/DHB.

In addition to the mystery experiences of Diamond Heist, Pittsburgh Opera’s 2018-19 Resident Artists will serenade attendees with pop-up performances throughout dinner. This season’s resident artists include Antonia Botti-Lodovico, Terrence Chin-Loy, Ashley Fabian, Caitlin Gotimer, Matthew Haney, Benjamin Taylor, and Tyler Zimmerman. You can get a free preview of the resident artists during their first public performance, “Rising Stars,” on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 6:00 pm at the Pittsburgh Opera offices in the Strip District.

Everyone at Pittsburgh Opera is excited for the fresh twist Diamond Heist brings to the tradition of the Diamond Horseshoe Ball, not least of all because, for the first time, the event has been conceived and planned by members of the New Guard, lead by event chairs Alexandra M. Good, Esq., Daniel Gorchynsky, and Celia A. Soehner, Esq.

Director of Marketing and Communications Christian Cox explains, “The New Guard is a group for people ages 21-40 who are interested in opera specifically and/or supporting Pittsburgh’s vibrant performing arts scene. Members get free tickets to the opera of their choice, plus significant discounts on tickets to big-ticket events such as the Diamond Horseshoe Ball, and added-value perks like preferred seating, a free drink ticket at our Fashion Show, etc. Last year was our first year of the New Guard. It went very well, and we are excited to build on its success.”

Tickets for Diamond Heist are still available. Prices begin at $275 each for New Guard tickets and $475 each for Patron tickets, with opportunities to support the event at the Benefactor Level ($600 each), Host Committee Level ($700 each), as well as table sponsorship levels.
